Confession for Lord’s Day worship

All: Heavenly Father, thank you that we belong not to ourselves, but to You, for Christ has bought us at a price, even His own blood.  Thank You for making each of us, and all of us together, the Temple of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.  Father, we confess that this past week, we have often forgotten where the Spirit lives; we have forgotten Whom we belong to.  We have thought and spoken, and acted and reacted, as though we were our own.  We have defiled Your Temple and grieved Your Spirit.  We have pursued our own selfish ends.  We have hurt others and born a bad testimony.  We each confess our specific sins to You now.  [Pause for private confession.]

Minister: Father, hear the prayers of Your people.  Forgive us each and all.  Make us clean – a fitting House for Your Spirit.  As Christ owns us, may He live in us and through us, for it is in His Name that we pray.  Amen.
