Confession for Lord’s Day Worship

Call to confession: The Lord preserves all who love him.  The Lord is near to all who call upon him, to all who call upon him in truth.   (Ps 145.20a, 18).

All: God and Father, You have instructed us to abhor what is evil and cling to what is good.  Yet in our hearts, we have often done the opposite — clinging to what is evil and abhorring what is good.  And the sin of our hearts has come out in words and deeds devoid of grace, love, and goodness.  We confess those sins to You now privately. [Pause for private confession.]

Minister: Father, hear and grant each prayer, as well as the prayers only Your Spirit can make on our behalf.  Forgive us and renew us in the likeness of Christ, for it is His name that we pray.  Amen.
